founder’s message

Nexgen Packaging was founded with the goal of providing customers with the highest quality packaging products by leveraging software and analytics in the design and manufacturing processes. Since its inception in 2006, Nexgen has become a global leader in the tag and label industry offering a complete portfolio of apparel branding products, variable data products, and other packaging solutions. We focus exclusively on retail, apparel, and footwear brands and our success is directly linked to our core software offerings that are used in 19 manufacturing country locations and more than 12,000 manufacturing entities globally.

The founders of Nexgen had a vision for how technology could improve the relationship between brands, vendors, and suppliers. We developed our core platform around this concept and continue to invest in areas such as PLM and testing data integration, analytics, and reporting. Our software has become a fundamental part of our engagement with customers who are seeking ways to improve the speed, cost, and quality of their supply chain processes.

RSL

Nexgen is committed to protecting people and the environment from the risks posed by harmful substances. We have adopted the American Apparel and Footwear Association (AAFA) RSLstandards across our supply chain, which identifies chemical and substances banned or regulated around the world in finished home textile, apparel, and footwear products. AAFA updates this list regularly and also provides additional resources to aid in responsible chemical management practices. We also comply with all customer-provided substance restrictions, including voluntary standards that are above and beyond global regulations.

OEKO-TEX®

Many of our suppliers maintain STANDARD 100 BY OEKO-TEX® class 1 certificate(s) for raw materials, semi-finished, or finished textile product. This is a worldwide recognized certification that tests for hundreds of banned, regulated, and identified harmful substances, even if not yet legally regulated.

Quality Assurance

Delivering consistent high-quality product is vital to our business. We have a robust internal testing and quality inspection process in both our development and bulk production stages. We strive to ensure our product is consistent for every order. In addition to our internal policies, many of our suppliers have adopted ISO 9001 for their quality management systems. Our supply chain performance is regularly monitored and reviewed to ensure factories are meeting expectations.

Material Tracking

Asset management

As a full-service provider of tags and labels, Nexgen works with our customer to develop products that are both creative, so as to effectively represent their brands, and data-rich products so as to require accuracy and global consistency. Asset Management was designed to meet both requirements.

The design functionality and digital storage capabilities of our Asset Management solution ensure our customers maintain brand integrity across all types of branded ID trim items. Our creative and product design teams work closely with our customers to protect their brand investments in their trim portfolio and Asset Management provides brand consistency across a global supply chain.

Asset Management also provides our customers with a platform tailored for managing variable data products in their portfolio. Everything from PO data, SKU data, and technical print and product specifications are aggregated and tracked within Asset Management. We understand our customer’s IT resources are limited and that our data integration specialists must therefore provide the support and expertise needed to integrate all varieties of data streams within Asset Management.

Asset Management is an open application. We believe that the retail, apparel and footwear industry needs more collaboration across suppliers of all types. We have recently announced integration with PLM providers such as PTC to automatically synchronize garment items with their trim portfolio. Other data sources such as testing reports and care label information are also aggregated within Asset Management to provide customers with one consolidated source of creative and technical information.

Social/Environmental/Human Rights
Audits and Management/Policy

We place a high importance on social and environmental compliance. In our early years we were a part of Business for Social Responsbilities Apparel, Mills and Sundries working group that was a collaboration with top retail brands to set a high standard in regard to social and environmental compliance. After this group disbanded, we adopted Sedex’s SMETA audit as well as Intertek’s Workplace Conditions Assessment (WCA) for our supply chain. These focus on labor standards, health and safety, management systems, entitlement to work, subcontracting, and environmental issues. We also conduct other industry and customized audits per requests of our retail and footwear customers and work on continuous action plans for any improvements identified in these audits. In 2014 we also started to use the Higgs Index created by the Sustainable Apparel Collation (SAC) to measure and score our suppliers’ sustainability performance. Nexgen believes in continuous improvement approach and will work with all suppliers to help remediate any non-compliance issues. We have our own internal compliance team based in our Hong Kong headquarters, which performs internal audits and manages the continuous action planning process to provides guidance on industry best practices and ensure all suppliers are working to improve issues. Many of our suppliers have adopted ISO 14001 (an environmental management standard) to improve their environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste.

Human Right Statement
Nexgen Packaging is committed to respecting human rights. We respect human rights by seeking to avoid infringing on the rights of others and working to address adverse human rights impacts with which we are involved. Nexgen Packaging also commits to promoting human rights. We do this by harnessing the beneficial power of technology to help realize and sustain human rights everywhere. Our approach to human rights issues are set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the International Labour Organizations (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.

Our employees: We respect the rights of our employees in accordance with the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. Nexgen Packaging policies that incorporate these protections include our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy, Anti-Discrimination and Harassment Policy. These policies are complemented by a full range of programs that support the well-being of our employees and their family members, including employee benefits focused on health, personal wellness, parental leave, diversity and inclusion, and education.

Our suppliers: Our human rights commitment extends to our suppliers. All Nexgen Packaging suppliers must agree to and abide by our Code of Business Conduct, which protects workers’ rights by setting clear standards for ethical business practices, employment practices, and compliance with environmental and worker safety requirements. We adopted Sedex as our principal social and environmental standard, and we regularly audit them to ensure our Code is being met.

Conflict Minerals

Nexgen has a conflict minerals policy in place with all of our suppliers to help ensure that our business activities do not finance or benefit armed groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and its adjoining countries in regards to the use of tin, tungsten, tantalum, or gold (collectively “3TGs”). We utilize Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) Conflict Minerals Reporting Templates throughout our supply chain.
